How Often is Titan CMS Updated?
Major and minor version upgrades, as well as cumulative updates, are released to Titan CMS regularly. On average, our major upgrades occur every several years, minor upgrades happen 2-3 times a year, and cumulative updates occur frequently and contain patches, bug fixes or enhancements needed in between minor upgrades.
Our Total Care support option, which ensures you receive updates without the hassle of having to purchase one-off upgrades, is a great option if you’re concerned about being stuck with an outdated CMS. Learn more about Total Care in Support.
How Long Has Titan CMS Been on the Market?
Titan CMS was originally launched in 2002. The most current version available is Titan CMS 7.2. Titan CMS is developed and managed by Northwoods.
Is Titan CMS Proprietary?
No. Titan CMS is not traditional “open source” software like WordPress or Drupal. However, it is built on Microsoft technology and uses common coding languages that any developer is able to access and customize.
While most clients prefer that we develop, maintain and manage Titan CMS ourselves and provide them with licensed access, we do have clients that have purchased a version of Titan CMS outright and fully manage, customize and update it themselves without support from Northwoods, Titan CMS’ developer.
Titan CMS has a long history of success – it’s been on the market since 2002 (and Northwoods was established in 1997). We don’t plan on going anywhere! However, should Northwoods no longer support Titan CMS for any reason, its universal development code can be accessed, updated, customized and maintained by any qualified software developer. You will never be stuck in a situation where you have to completely rebuild your website.
Is Titan CMS Compliant with Data Privacy Laws and Regulations?
For companies that are required to achieve compliance with privacy laws like GDPR, CCPA and others, Titan CMS’ optional Data Privacy Suite Add-In and Data Subject Response Portal Add-In (offered in partnership with CookiePro by One Trust) provide easy and efficient cookie consent management and an automated, secure end-to-end Data Subject Rights (DSR) workflow. All while allowing you to adapt to meet the requirements of new privacy laws yet to come.

Does Titan CMS Require Plugins?
No. Our one-time license fee gives you access to powerful, robust and affordable CMS functionality that most businesses require right out of the box.
If functionality you need isn’t already included, Titan CMS Add-Ins let you layer on additional features and functionality so you get only what your organization needs without paying for the stuff you don't.
You can add an Add-In at any time, and easily manage your site and any Add-Ins you choose seamlessly through one administrative interface.
How Easy is Titan CMS to Learn? Can I Make Changes on My Own?
If you’ve worked in a CMS before, or even just a word processing tool, you’ll pick up Titan CMS quickly! You don’t have to be technical to learn and use it. The administrative interface is intuitive and easy to navigate and features a WYSIWYG editor that’s very similar to tools like Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
You can easily make content changes, upload and manage images and files, and update data as often as needed.
Our team will work with you to ensure that you’re trained and feel comfortable with Titan CMS before your site launches, and we customize our training to meet your specific needs. Many support options are also available post-launch. With Titan CMS, help is always at hand.
How Scalable is Titan CMS?
Very! We offer a range of licensing options to fit every organization’s needs and budget. In addition to license levels, License Add-Ins let you add additional users and websites (“globes”) to your license as needed, or you can upgrade to the next license level.
Titan CMS is also updated routinely to meet our clients’ needs and evolving digital trends. (See Regular Upgrades in the Key Features for Marketers section.) For more than what comes with your license, Add-Ins allow you to layer on additional features and functionality so you get only what your organization needs without paying for the stuff you don't. You can add an Add-In at any time and manage everything seamlessly through one administrative interface.

Is Titan CMS Available as Saas?
We offer a SaaS-like model called Total Care, which provides ongoing updates and at least one upgrade annually to ensure you’re always on the latest version of Titan CMS. Learn more about Total Care in Support.
We Have Multiple Websites. Is a Separate License Required for Each?
No. For organizations with multiple websites, our license options give you the flexibility to select the level that best meets your needs based on the number of websites and users you have. We also offer budget-friendly License Add-Ins for users and websites so that you can add either as your needs change. You also have the option of moving up to the next license level. We’ll work with you to determine the most budget-friendly solution.
