System Requirements

Titan Content Management / Portal v5.0 is built using Microsoft .Net 4.0 and SQL 2008 (Express through Enterprise).

Dedicated vs. Shared Servers

Titan peacefully co-exists with other applications on a shared server. If you expect a lot of traffic, a dedicated server is suggested.

If you plan to host Titan internally on your company's existing hardware, you are free to use these server(s) for any other purpose. Of course, dedicated servers are always best, but it is not a requirement.

Resources

SQL 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services is the supported version of SQL Express. Go directly to the SQL Express download to install this software.

Single Server Configuration

Web, Database, and Application Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM
• 50G Disk Space.  We recommend a RAID5 disk array of 250G or greater.
• Standard network interface cards supported

Two Server Configuration

Database Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM Minimum
• 50G Disk Space.  We recommend a RAID5 disk array of 250G or greater.
• High speed network interface recommended (for internal high-performance connectivity between servers)

Web / Application Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM Minimum
• 50G Disk Space.  We recommend a RAID5 disk array of 250G or greater.
• This server will host the Titan CMS components and services.
• High speed network interface recommended (for internal high-performance connectivity between servers)

Three Server Configuration

SQL Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM Minimum
• 50G Disk Space.  We recommend a RAID5 disk array of 250G or greater.
• High speed network interface recommended (for internal high-performance connectivity between servers)

Web Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM Minimum
• 50G Disk Space.  We recommend a RAID5 disk array of 250G or greater.
• 1 - RAID5 array which will host the operating system & program code. The RAID array should be at least 250G.
• High speed network interface recommended (for internal high-performance connectivity between servers)

App Server

• 2 processors - 2.0 GHz or higher
• 4G RAM Minimum
• 3 - RAID5 arrays, one for the operating system and active directory database, one for the active directory logging and one for Library Files such as PDFs and XLSs). 250G usable space should be more than enough for the first two arrays. The third array should be calculated based upon the amount of external files you wish to server up (PDFs, XLSs, etc.). As well, it would be safe to increase the disk space for future growth.

Redundant Configurations

Titan CMS supports operating in a load balanced, redundant environment expanding the Web or Application layer horizontally. In addition, Titan content management system operates in a Microsoft SQL Cluster environment to provide redundant SQL services.

While cluster services can be used for the Web and Application layer, we recommend using hardware load balancing to provide the best performance and reliability.
