This notice is provided to identify possible compatibility issues between the newest version of Firefox (3.0.4) and the Titan CMS workstation. These errors most commonly manifest after saving, publishing, or creating a new page. After performing these operations, some users have received error messages with the following text:
“Server Error in ‘/’ Application”
In some cases the error is intermittent, while in others it is consistently reproducible.
Firefox 3.0.4 was released two days prior to the release of Titan CMS v4.7 and as is not currently supported for use with the Titan CMS Workstation. To resolve the issue described in this notice, use a supported browser version to access the Titan CMS workstation, including Firefox version 3.0.3 and Internet explorer version 7.
Some users will receive server error messages after performing various operations in the workstation. This requires the user to refresh the page, and/or log back into the workstation. We have isolated the location of the error to a routine that refreshes the workstation display after the operation completes. Thus, the operation performed right before the error has completed successfully. If you received the error after creating a new page, upon reentering the workstation, you will see that the page has been created.
The primary source of the error is related to a change in the way Firefox 3.0.4 handles javascript and, more specifically, AJAX requests. In the references section below you can find links to various sources reporting related problems.
We will continue to troubleshoot the issue and research the exact causes. In the meantime, users can use Internet Explorer 7, or downgrade to Firefox 3.0.3 to avoid the error.
